How the time clock works

  1. Press Clock in to record the start time from your device clock.
  2. Press Start break and End break for unpaid breaks, then Clock out at the end of the shift.
  3. The day total and a list for the week update after each punch. You can edit or delete any punch if you forgot to press a button.
  4. Download the list as a CSV file.

Punches are saved only on your device, in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser data or switching to another browser or device removes or hides them, so export a CSV if you need a record.

Minutes to decimal hours chart

Payroll systems often want hours as decimals: 7 hours 45 minutes becomes 7.75. To convert, divide the minutes by 60 and add the whole hours. The chart shows each minute from 0 to 59 as a fraction of an hour, rounded to two decimals.

Example: 7 hours 20 minutes is 7 + 0.33 = 7.33 hours. Because 0.33 is rounded, 7.33 hours converts back to 7:20, but a long list of rounded values can drift by a minute or two.

Going the other way, multiply the decimal part by 60: 8.75 hours is 8 hours plus 0.75 x 60 = 45 minutes, so 8:45. The converter on this page does both directions. Quarter hours are exact in decimals (15 min = 0.25, 30 min = 0.50, 45 min = 0.75), and so are multiples of 6 minutes (6 min = 0.10, 12 min = 0.20).

Example day

Clock in at 8:00 AM, start break at 12:15 PM, end break at 12:45 PM, and clock out at 5:00 PM. The clock-in to break span is 4:15, the second span is 4:15, and the unpaid 30 minutes are left out: 8:30 worked, or 8.50 decimal hours. For a full week with overtime rules, switch to the time card calculator.
